Thanks to what we can only guess was an inadvertent mistake by Playstation Store, we now know that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is lined up for release on Aug 28, 2025. The game releases for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. This was pointed out by users on ResetEra first, not just the release date, but a full-fledged trailer for the same as well. The trailer has the gang returning: The End, The Fear, The Fury, The Pain and The Sorrow – with suitably upgraded character models. It also looks like the Snake vs Monkey mini-game is also part of the package. This was first included in the PS2 Metal Gear Solid 3, and is a crossover with the Ape Escape series.

Metal Gear Solid Delta is a remake of the fifth game (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater) in the series, while timeline-wise it is the first game. The game is set at the height of the Cold War between USA and Russia, and has the operative Naked Snake work to sabotage Russia’s attempt at creating a nuclear superweapon. At the same time, there is a personal angle as well to the story as Snake seeks to confront The Boss who is now working for the Russians.
The original game was first released back in 2004 for PS2, with remasters launched in later years for PS3, Xbox360 and Nintendo; and is a regular entry in most ‘best games of all time’ lists.
The last game in the series was Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain back in 2015, and has become rather infamous for being the last game by Hideo Kojima for Konami, before both parted ways midgame.
