Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is a dark RPG that revolves around the legend of King Arthur and the mystical realm of Avalon. You will explore a dark and grim world that has been infected, and your objective is to restore order from chaos.

However, before you do that, you’ll have to select a class and choose the kind of combat you want to align with. The game offers decent variety when it comes to class selection and combat, and here’s a rundown of what you can find when you jump in.

As soon as you jump into the game, you’ll end up in a prison, similar to how Elder Scrolls games start. You’ll have to talk to a guard where you get to select your class.

The selection process is a bit different when compared to other games, as the answers you give to the guard determine your playstyle. You’ll have to select an initial Playstyle, and that will be followed up by something more specific.

    Warrior

You’ll have to select the dialogue, “I was on my way to enlist in the army” to select this particular playstyle. It comes with the following stats:

    • One-Handed +3
    • Two-Handed +3
    • Blocking +3
    • Heavy Armor +3
    • Athletics +3

Upon selecting this one, you’ll then have to select your Playstyle 2, which includes Infntry, Archers, Battlemage, and Healer. The base stats for each of these are provided below:

    Infantry

    • One-Handed +6
    • Blocking +6
    • Heavy Armor +3

    Archers

    • One-Handed +3
    • Archery +6
    • Medium Armor +3

    Battlemages

    • One-Handed +3
    • Heavy Armor +3
    • Magic +6
    • Burning Ember

    Healers

    • Light Armor +3
    • Magic +3
    • Alchemy +6
    • Blood Transfusion

    Hunter

You’ll have to select the dialogue, “I was hunting,” for your primary Playstyle to be an Archer. The base stats for this are as follows:

    • Archery +3
    • Medium Armor +3
    • Athletics +3
    • Evasion +3
    • Sneak +3

Upon selection, here are the sub-categories along with their stats for this particular class:

“I… use the fur to make clothes”

    • Archer +3
    • Handycrafting +9

“People say I’m a pretty good cook”

    • Archery +3
    • Cooking +9

“I collect rare materials – for alchemy”

    • Athletics +3
    • Alchemy +9

    Thief

You’ll have to select the dialogue, “I was avoiding the city guards, trying to sell some… goods” to access this class, and here are the base stats:

    • One-Handed +3
    • Archery +3
    • Light Armor +3
    • Agility +3
    • Sneak +3

Once selected, here are the options you have for Playstyle 2:

“Give me a bow, and you’ll see for yourself”

    • Archer +6
    • Evasion +6

“I prefer to avoid fighting… when I can”

    • Sneak +6
    • Theft +6
    • Lockpick

    Mage

You’ll have to select the dialogue, “I was seeking an ancient site of worship,” to access this Playstyle. The stats for this class are as follows:

    • One-Handed +3
    • Light-Armor +3
    • Magic +6
    • Alchemy +3

Here are the options you have when it comes to Playstyle 2 under the Mage class:

    “Yes, I study healing magic”

    • Alchemy +9
    • Cooking +3
    • Blood Transfusion

“No, I’d rather burn that tree down”

    • Light Armor +6
    • Athletics +3
    • Magic +6
    • Burning Ember

    Classless

You have the option to remain Silent, where you won’t be assigned any particular class. You will start with the base stat of 10 across the board, and it’ll be upto you to decide how you want to play the game and build your character.

Ideally, this is recommended for players who have experience in RPGs, but for newer players, selecting a pre-determined class will make the game a lot easier.
