Elden Ring Nightreign: Top 5 Tips For New Players

Elden Ring Nightreign is a new take on Soulslike combat, where instead of playing solo and slowly, you are encouraged to play fast and with friends. In fact, the bosses in this game are balanced around three players, making things extremely difficult if you try to take on the solo challenge. Given the classic souls-like difficulty and the added rogue-lite structure of the game, a single mistake can prove costly.

However, if you make the most of your time in the preparation phase before facing the Nightlord, you’ll be able to clear the bosses quite efficiently. Here are five tips that will make your journey through the world of Nightreign quite easy.

    Do Not Skip Marika’s Churches

Marika’s Churches are the only source of flask charges in Elden Ring Nightreign. You initially start with very few charges, and those are increased by picking up the upgrades from the Marika Churches.

However, these Churches are placed on the outer edges of the map, and if you don’t pick them up early, once the Rain arrives, they become unreachable. I highly recommend that you make covering these churches your top priority.

Do Not Waste Time Fighting Roaming Bosses

As you hit Day 2, several formidable bosses will spawn on the map. These are the roaming bosses, but they are extremely difficult. These primarily include the Gargoyles or the big Dragons, and they have a lot of health, which means you are likely to spend an entire day taking them down for maybe one or at most two levels.

Instead, focus on clearing out the mini bosses, which are easy, and collect resistances accompanied by buffs to help against the Nightlord.

    Learn Your Character’s Best Builds

Every character in Elden Ring Nightreign works around a specific build, which includes Relics and weapons. The Relics are primarily random, and you don’t have much control over what you get, apart from the Nightfarer-specific ones.

However, what you do have control over is picking the correct weapon for yourself. For instance, the Raider is a strength character, so you should be picking weapons that scale based on the strength stat.

If you put a Katana on the Raider, you’ll deal less damage due to the scaling mismatch. You don’t want to do that against the Nightlord boss, as that’ll make things not only difficult for you, but also for your team.

    Learn The Boss’s Weakness

Every Nightlord you fight in the game has a specific weakness that can be viewed right at the Roundtable Hold before you commence an expedition. For instance, Gladius, Beast of the Night, is weak to Holy damage.

Once you jump into the map, you’ll find locations with similar markings, where you have a chance to get weapons of the required element. I can’t stress enough how much of a difference it made to my runs when I started spending the first couple of days getting weapons that match the weakness of the boss.

    Learn To Attract Boss’s Attention

Once you are facing the Nightlord, you’ll notice that the boss will occasionally get aggressive towards one player. When that happens, start damaging the boss to attract the boss’s attention and switch its gaze.

Both you and your allies are of the same level and have the same number of flasks. So, juggling the boss’s gaze will allow damage windows and healing opportunities to everyone, which will make clearing the fight easier.

Always remember, unlike in normal Elden Ring, where your summons could keep the gaze infinitely, in Nightreign, everyone is an actual player, and they are bound to make mistakes. If your teammate dies multiple times, it becomes impossible to revive them.
