Survivability is one of the major problems that you’ll face when traveling the world of Dragon Is Dead. You have to constantly manage your health and healing flasks to ensure you have enough until you can refill after a boss fight.
Since you have to complete the game with just one life in hand, and death means a restart, you will have to work towards maintaining a balance between engaging and disengaging. However, your life becomes easier when you upgrade your healing flask, since you’ll be healing more for every flask.
Here’s a guide on how to upgrade your healing flask in the game.
Dragon Is Dead: How To Upgrade Your Healing Flask

You increase the number of healing flasks by upgrading them at the Alchemist in the town, in exchange for red currency. However, to unlock the Alchemist, you will have to wait a while. Initially, you start with level one healing flasks, which will heal you for very little. However, you’ll need to continue with it until you defeat the boss, Tree Spirit Longmore. After defeating this boss, proceed to the next area, where you will find a person wearing a green dress.
Interact with this NPC to release him, and you will now have an Alchemist in the town where you respawn after death. Visit the Alchemist’s shop, indicated by a blue marker.
Talk to the Alchemist, and you’ll be able to upgrade your flasks for red currency. Upgrading the flask will cost quite a bit, and as you level up, the price will increase. As you progress, keep leveling up whenever you die, so that you can have more heals to survive challenging levels.
The good part about leveling up is that the number of flasks you can carry at a time also increases. Additionally, when you receive healing flask drops occasionally, they will be of the same level as the one you might be carrying at that moment.
Finally, once the Alchemist is unlocked, you don’t have to unlock him again if you die. The next time you visit the same area, you won’t see the tied-up Alchemist anymore.
