Welcome to the RPG Release Roundup, a weekly look back at some of the RPGs released in the past 7 days. Each week, we’ll select at least 4-5 RPGs of all shapes and sizes released on Steam, Itch.io, PS Store, Xbox, and Nintendo eShop.
You don’t need me to tell you there’s a ridiculous amount of games released each week, and even in the RPG genre, rarely is there a barren week unless you’re looking for a very particular kind of RPG experience each time. I’m not calling these picks the best of the week by any means, just the ones that looked most interesting.
So here’s the first bunch to get highlighted.
RPG Release Roundup for July 14, 2025
The Last Sanctum
Developer: Anomalyybyte Studio, Sunset Disco
Publisher: Anomalyybyte Studio
Released July 11, 2025 on Steam Early Access
The Last Sanctum is described as a dark fantasy tactical RPG where memory, spirits, and nightmare intertwine in a dying world, which sounds less like fantasy, and more like Sunday night closing time at the pub.
The isometric tactical RPG features all the hits, including dungeon crawling, party building, and upgrade paths to help you turn this dark world a lighter shade.
It’s just entered Early Access, and it’s certainly a tad rough around the edges at present. The developer has also used AI in presenting the game on its Steam page, but there’s no mention of it being used in the game itself just yet.
Reclaim the Sea
Developer: 1LastGame
Publisher: 1Last game, Indienova
Released July 14, 2025 on Steam
I do love a pirate fantasy RPG, so, understandably, strategy RPG Reclaim the Sea caught my unpatched eye for the RPG Release Roundup
In this roguelike strategy, you control a crew sailing through the seas of randomly-generated worlds, tackling other seafarers, keeping your crew happy, and maintaining the state of the ship.
As your voyage goes on, you’ll be able to build a ship capable of besting anyone or anything in or on the sea. Being a roguelike, the ship you can build promises to never be quite the same on any given run, so you’ll have plenty of experimenting to do as you build the perfect vessel for tackling the game’s final boss.
I’m pretty taken with the top-down pixel art style for this one, and a strategy RPG model for pirating is a good fit.
Striving for Light
Developer: Igniting Spark Games
Publisher: Igniting Spark Games
Released July 11, 2025 on Steam.
Striving for Light has just exited Early Access, and the Action RPG roguelite is offering all the goodies, including an infinite skill tree! Upgrading forever? What luxury! If the game could pull that off, there are possibilities for builds that could become a borderline obsession.
Igniting Spark Games is fusing the action RPG stylings of the Diablos of this world with the pace and roguelite action of games such as Hades. The art style reminds me a bit of classic fantasy paintings you’d find on D&D sets. That gives it a distinct look that distances it from its influences.
Cataclysm: The Last Generation
Developer: Worm Girl
Publisher: Worm Girl
Released July 11, 2025 on Steam
I love my horror, so I was always going to find a horror RPG to slot in here. Cataclysm: The Last Generation is based on the cult classic Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, and the post-apocalyptic survival game is an immersive life simulation where you have freedom of choice in surviving against the undead and monsters by upgrading your character. Often in unspeakable ways!
Kickback: Shoot to Move!
Developer: Dot Blood
Publisher: Targem Games
Released July 14 on Steam
Kickback: Shoot to Move! is the latest in the bullet-hell roguelike RPG sub-genre made very popular by Vampire Survivors, but this one exceeds event he throwback style of that game with an 80s flavor and color palette to its top down madness.
This biopunk bullet hell shooter has the usual suite of tools to combat increasing swarms of foes, but you can also take a buddy into action via co-op.
We’ll have a fresh set of games for the RPG Release Roundup next week.
