Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Switch 2 Release Looks Likely as Director Implies Whole Trilogy Will Make Jump From PS5

It looks like Final Fantasy 7 Remake will not be the only part of the remake trilogy coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Its director has suggested that a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Switch 2 release could well be on the way, along with the untitled third part.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth have been PlayStation exclusives since their release, but with Final Fantasy 7 Remake about to break that next month with a Switch 2 version, the next entries seem sure to follow.

And the game’s director Naoki Hamaguchi has now seemingly implied that we’ll get a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Switch 2 version. During a Nintendo Creator’s Voice video recently, Hamaguchi refers to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series rather than the confirmed first entry.

You can hear what Hamaguchi had to say in the video below.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Switch 2 Release Chances Grow

Given Square Enix’s recent shift to a more multiplatform-focused model, it shouldn’t be surprising that the previously PlayStation-exclusive trilogy could now be available on other consoles. After all, Remake and Rebirth have already made the jump to PC.

It is unknown how this might affect the third Final Fantasy 7 Remake game. It seems highly likely that PlayStation will continue to have an exclusivity window for it, but perhaps a shorter one than with Remake.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth reimagine the world of the legendary Final Fantasy 7 for a new generation of console and bring the magic of a genre-defining classic back for players, old and new. Playing as former operative Cloud Strife, players embark on an epic adventure full of joy, terror, and heartache.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. Both Remake and Rebirth are currently available on PlayStation and PC.
