Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been making waves since its launch, with the game being praised from nearly all quarters. As if a great and realistic open world, combat and role-playing options were not enough to make the game enjoyable, players have also started discovering easter eggs and nods to other famous games, and the most recent such discovery references Skyrim and Elden Ring.
In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, at one point, we see Harry say ‘I heard of a bloke who took an arrow to the knee’, clearly alluding to the famous ‘ Arrow in the knee’ meme. In Skyrim, when you speak to guards, and soldiers, they often repeat the line ‘I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow to the knee’.
This was first posted by FIRSTODST1 on Reddit, and since then a lot of gamers have appreciated the nod by KCD2 to Skyrim – a game that first came some 10 years back (not counting, of course, the several remasters that have become somewhat of a meme themselves in case of Skyrim.
The game looks to have other such Easter Eggs too, with another one that clearly looks to reference the Souls games/Elden Ring ‘Let me solo her’. In Elden Ring, Malenia is a notoriously tough boss, and one player (check out TsuboiKlein) managed to beat her some crazy number of times, armed with nothing but a loincloth, a pot-like helmet, and dual swords. In KCD2, you see a skeleton with exactly this gear.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 developers Warhorse Studios have done this in the past as well, with references in their first game to GOT (a shortsword named Needle), Harry Potter (a skeleton with a cape, broom and a Golden Snitch in its hand), Witcher(a perk specifically named Witcher – allowing Henry to drink more potions) and so on; so it should come as no surprise that this game also comes with Easter Eggs. In fact, we suspect that by the time we are done with the game, there will be more than just 2 such references discovered.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was released on Feb 4 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
