Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced Edition brings the two-decades-old classic to players once again, especially for the hardcore Dungeons and Dragons fans. However, a lot of new players will also love to jump into the game to experience what this RPG has to offer.
However, when you start the game, you get the option to select either the base campaign or three expansions, and that might be confusing about which one to begin with. Here’s a guide on how you should focus on the campaign and in what order you should be playing them.
Campaign Selection Guide in Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced Edition

The four campaigns that you can select are Neverwinter Nights 2, Mask of Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, and Mysteries of Westgate.
Neverwinter Nights 2 Official Campaign
This is the first option you will have among the four, and it’s what you should be beginning your playthrough with. The story focuses on a period of calm in Neverwinter when the city has begun to recover after the devastating battle against Luskan.
However, a dark enemy from the past has reawakened, who is looking to destroy that peace and engulf Neverwinter with its darkness. You, as the player character, have to rise and challenge the enemy to make sure peace is maintained.
A total of 4 players can play this campaign at a given time.
Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer
This is the first expansion of Neverwinter Nights 2, and you should start it after finishing the official campaign. In this expansion, the story focuses on how Rashemi parents would scare their children about a vile spirit eater that could devour souls.
However, the Spirit Eater is way more dangerous than it is described to be, and the hero will learn about it during their journey. You need to be somewhere between levels 18 to level 30 to play this campaign.
Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir
This is the third expansion of Neverwinter Nights 2, and you should pick it up after Mask of the Betrayer. In this expansion, you and your party are caught in a violent storm, which leaves you stranded on an unknown island.
As a result, you and your party will have to seek help from a powerful merchant and take steps to stop an incoming destruction that has the potential to engulf all Realms.
You’ll have to be around level 15 to take part in this expansion, and it’s recommended for one player only.
Neverwinter Nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate
This is the final expansion of Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced Edition and can be picked up after either of the DLCs. It’s a smaller expansion compared to the other two, and can be treated as an individual experience.
In this expansion, you have been afflicted by a curse from a mask that you found at the depths of a dungeon. As such, you jump onto a ship heading to Westgate, where you will have to find allies to protect yourself from losing your sanity, while also uncovering the secrets of Dragon Coast.
