Level-5 has released another Fantasy Life i gameplay video. This time shining a light on the shadowy Mercenary Life.
This is the fourth video, following previous ones on the Alchemist, Woodcutter, and Miner jobs, focused on the 14 unique jobs featured in the carefree RPG.
The Mercenary Life is undoubtedly a combat-focused vocation, and the associated gameplay video shows some rather severe violence against tortoises. Very mercenary behaviour, that.
Fantasy Life i Gameplay Video: Mercenary Life
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is a ‘Slow-Life’ RPG where you can freely switch between 14 unique jobs, known as ‘Lives’. The game encourages players to immerse themselves in a carefree life in a fantasy world. You can fish, cook, shape the island to your liking, or team up with friends to battle monsters across the expansive island.
It looks like it could have the same family-friendly fun of something like Portal Knights with the cheeky charm of a Dragon Quest Builders 2, another game where you could build up quaint little towns, reshape islands and battle monsters. I’m all for a chill RPG experience with a co-op function like this. The ”Lives” system will hopefully give players a unique experience that balances freedom with a bit of focus. So if you can’t be bothered with combat and want to cook your pals nice virtual meals, you can concentrate on that.
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on May 21, 2025.
