Atlus has teased a Western release for Persona 5 The Phantom X with a social media post.
The English-language account post features art from the game and the words ‘Retake Your Desire.’ It comes ahead of a stream for the game on May 15, 2025, which will reveal the Japanese release date on PC and mobile.
The free-to-play mobile game has been in open beta in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and South Korea for over a year, and Atlus looks set to release fresh information this week for the rest of the world. Previously, it stated it wanted to bring the game to the Western market.
Persona 5 The Phantom X Post Teases Western Release Announcement

Persona 5 The Phantom X is set in the same Tokyo as 2016’s Persona 5 but follows new Persona-wielding characters. While the game has many of the same gameplay mechanics as its console siblings, there are concessions to fit a free-to-play mobile game structure. So there are day-to-day social activities and dungeon crawling in the Metaverse (which is increasingly less grim than the one folk chat about in real life). Combat is also still turn-based and features similar mechanics, but again tweaked for mobile.
It’s probably not the Persona news fans of the series want this Summer. With rumors swirling about a Persona 4 remake, there’s likely to be something else in the short-term pipeline, but eventually, Atlus will need to get around to a new entry.
Of course, we did get an entirely new game with a similar underlying structure last year with Metaphor: ReFantazio, which was not only one of the best RPGs of 2024, but also one of the most essential JRPGs of the modern age.
