Developer Intima Leaf has announced its debut game, the action RPG Riven Crown for PC, and provided a blood-splattered announcement trailer to showcase its gloomy, brutal world and interesting combat fusion.
Riven Crown mixes fighting game and traditional action RPG mechanics to add some spice to a familar meal. Watch the Riven Crown announcement trailer below, and you can see how much it might remind you of certain other games aesthetically speaking, but that combat mixture does give it some individual flair.
Riven Crown Announcement Trailer
Riven Crown sees you unravel the mysteries of the past as you navigate through multiple worlds, facing the corrupt and the damned. As with many souls-like games, each death and resurrection shapes your journey, but there’s a litle twist here. The game offers you the chance to alter fate at every turn. So beware of the curse that grows with each demise, and use rare items to stave off petrification.
”After perishing, the hero ascends to a higher dimension where four ancient civilizations, each ruled by a king or queen in communion with their god, have transformed into hellish beasts. Petrified by the Great Sweep, these rulers and their people await a hero to unravel their fate. Explore a vast, interconnected world where new civilizations have risen upon the ruins, guarded by elder councils and black magic centers.”
The combat makes use of a dual-kick system where you can break blocks with a light kick and the heavy kick can launch enemies into walls and obstacles or kick dangerous objects into those same foes. Given how satisfying a good kick button can be (Dying Light’s dropkick, Assassin’s Creed Odyessy’s spartan kick for example), it’s pretty cool to see a game make kicking things and foes alike into oblivion a prominent feature.
Riven Crown does not have a concrete release date yet.
