System Shock 2 Remastered provides multiple playstyles, which include the use of weapons, hacking, or Psi powers. The concept of Psi powers is very unique, as you can think of them as similar to the Force from the Star Wars universe.

However, using Psi powers comes at a cost, as you’ll need to upgrade your tiers to unlock the powerful spells. If you’re looking for gameplay surrounding Psi powers, here’s a guide that covers all the necessary details.

Psi Powers are spells that you can use in System Shock 2 Remastered and are one of the ways to play the game. There is a mix of offensive and defensive Psi Powers, including a few that enhance the skills and stats of the players.

You’ll need an item called a Psi Amp to use Psi Powers, and you’ll also need access to Psi Points to use them. You can unlock more Psi powers using Cybernetic Modules by using Psi Upgrade Units.

Now, you have to understand that Psi Powers are divided into five tiers in total. Your tier denotes the number of Psi points you’ll need to use these powers. For instance, if you’re at tier five, it means you’ll need five Psi points to use a particular ability.

All the Psi powers belong to one tier or the other. However, you’ll first have to hit the tier before you can unlock the specific Psi ability and use it. Additionally, OSA Agents will have their Tier One and Tier Two unlocked.

You also have the ability to overload your Psi powers. When you use them, a small bar will appear on the right-hand side, which will be divided into a green section and a yellow section. If you hold your mouse click, the Psi ability will charge and hit the yellow section.

At this state, the Psi ability is overloaded, and they will have higher effectiveness than if you release them in the green section. If you use it too much, then you’ll reach a state called Psi Burnout, where you’ll start taking damage.

This can be avoided if you have a Power Psi O/S Upgrade installed, or unless your Psi is high. The higher your Psi ability is, the harder it becomes to overload without running the risk of Psi burnout. However, the yellow bar increases as your Psi skill goes up, which makes overloading easier.
