The Hundred Line Last Defense Academy: Celebrated 2025 RPG Unlikely to Get PS5 or Xbox Ports

Despite financial troubles for its developer, there are currently no plans to give the critically celebrated The Hundred Line Last Defense Academy a broader audience on PlayStation and Xbox platforms.

The game received rave reviews ahead of its launch last month, but the financial burden of developing it has left Too Kyo games in debt, and according to co-director and co-writer Kazutaka Kodaka, the studio is ”on the brink of going under”.

This is probably why the game will remain on just PC and Nintendo Switch for the foreseeable future. A misunderstanding regarding a quote from Kodaka led people to believe he was keen to work on ports as soon as possible. Kodaka then clarified what he actually meant in a post on BlueSky, saying he wasn’t talking about console ports but was ”referring to multilingual support.”

He then went on to reiterate that there were no plans for ports.

”I’ve mentioned it many times before, so I didn’t think it needed repeating, but just to be clear: there are no plans for it, and the chances are very slim.”

In The Hundred Line Last Defense Academy, 15 students are tasked with defending a school from grotesque monsters for 100 days. Can they make it to the end? And will they survive long enough to uncover the truth?

The game has a Metacritic average score of 86, making it one of 2025’s highest-rated titles, and yet still, with everything going on in the background, there are fears it could be something of a bittersweet story come the end of the year. Hopefully, word of mouth about the quality of The Hundred Line can help bring Too Kyo Games back from the brink.

The Hundred Line Last Defense Academy is out now on PC and Nintendo Switch.
