Falcom has announced an upgraded version of Ys X: Nordics, Ys X: Proud Nordics. It will be coming to Switch 2 and already has a Japanese release date.
Ys X: proud Nordics will feature brand new story additions, settings, and features when it launches on Switch 2 digitally and physically on July 31, 2025, in Japan. A Western release has not yet been confirmed, and versions for other platforms are yet to be determined, according to a Falcom representative who spoke to Gematsu.
The story of Ys X: Proud Nordics delves into the legend of extraordinary adventurers Adol Kristin and Norman Pirate Karja as they explore uncharted islands, sail the high seas, and engage in fast-paced action combat with the mysterious immortal monsters known as the Griegr.
Ys X: Proud Nordics Upgrade Details

The upgraded version sees the addition of Alland Island, a massive landmass situated to the north of the Obelia Gulf. Here, the protagonists will encounter another Mana user who leads them on a fresh adventure.
In terms of other fresh features, Proud Nordics also introduces new Mana Actions, new boss fights, arena battles, and Mana Ride races. Making an already sizeable game even bigger.
The original version of the game, Ys X: Nordics, was released in the West just over six months ago on October 25, 2024, for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
The YS series has been going for close to 40 years now, having debuted in 1987 with Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished. A port of that game came to Nintendo Switch in early 2024.
