System Shock 2 Remastered is an RPG, and just like other titles in its category, classes play a vital role in your gameplay. You get to choose your class right at the beginning of the game, but it also means you’ll have to stick with it until the very end.

If you’re a new player, then not every class will be good for you since selecting the correct abilities and skills can be difficult. However, if you’re a veteran, you have all the choices at your disposal and can go for anything you like.

Here’s a discussion on all the playable classes that you’ll come across in System Shock 2 Remastered.

Class selection in System Shock 2 Remastered

There are three playable classes in System Shock 2 Remastered, and each one of them offers a unique way of playing the game. The three classes are the UNN Marine, UNN Navy, and OSA. Here’s a detailed discussion on each of these.

    UNN Marine

This is one of the three military classes and is focused on a brute force playstyle and mastery of weapons. The key stats that you will be focusing on are Strength, Endurance, and Agility. Additionally, you’ll also learn the usage of Heavy Weapons and Energy Weapons.

Finally, you’ll be gaining the skills called Maintenance, Modify, and Repair. These skills will help you fight, without worrying too much about the complicated aspects of the game.

It is a very easy class to play and is something that new players will enjoy a lot. You’ll be picking up weapons and shooting down enemies, though that will be difficult when in Hard and Impossible difficulty.

    UNN Navy

This is the second military class and is also one that is quite suited for new players. The key to this class is the control of the machines, where you will focus on leveling up Tech skills that make it easy to use the various technologies that exist in the game.

You’ll initially focus on Strength but also learn Hacking, Repair, and Modify skills. Cybernetic Affinity will be one of your most important skills, alongside Maintenance and affinity towards Standard Weapons.

Finally, you’ll also learn Research, Endurance, and Agility. The reason why this class is easy, but extremely valuable, is that you’ll be able to hack through all kinds of equipment in the game.

This includes doors, vending machines, crates, turrets, and cameras. You’ll pretty much make the enemy equipment work for you, which is massive considering the game gets very hard as you progress to the later stages.

In fact, if you’re trying to play in Impossible and Hard difficulty, Hacking is your most important skill, which makes UNN Navy one of the best classes in the game.

    OSA

OSA is the final playable class in the game and is focused on Psi abilities. This is the most difficult class to play, especially for new players, since you need knowledge about how to level up your skills. You’ll have to manage your spells while also worrying about using Psi Amps and ensuring that you don’t suffer from a Psi burnout.

The skills you usually learn as an OSA Agent include Second Tier Neural Capacity, Projected Cryokinesis, Psionic Ability, Research, Endurance, Psychogenic Agility, Neuro Reflex Damping, and Remote Electron Tampering.

When playing as an OSA Agent, the only weapon you get to use early is the Wrench alongside the Psi Weapons, which makes the gameplay difficult.
