Darkdrift Knight is one of the Nightlord bosses you will encounter in Elden Ring Nightreign. This is another boss that can be easy or hard, depending on how well you prepare during the first two days of your expedition.
The boss is extremely aggressive, but there are clear windows where you can attack and deal damage to it. Here’s a detailed guide to Darkdrift Knight, including its movelist, weakness, and drops.
Darkdrift Knight Movelist In Elden Ring Nightreign

Here is a list of all the moves that you will encounter when fighting Darkdrift Knight in Elden Ring Nightreign:
Move List | Description | Counter |
---|---|---|
Spear Swing | Darkdrift Knight will rush towards the player and aggressively swing its sword. | Dodging is the best way to deal with it. You’ll need to dodge sideways or backwards to get out of its range. |
Spear Blast | The boss will use its Spear to release powerful blasts in front, directly at the player. | The blasts arrive very quickly, so the best way to deal with them is to land a timely dodge. |
Holy Spear | The boss will meditate for a few seconds, and Holy Spears will start thrusting upwards from the ground. | Before the Spears appear, the ground starts producing golden circles. All you need to do is dodge away from the circles, and you’ll be fine. |
Holy Charge | The boss will start charging across the arena and leave Holy trails that will explode after a while. | The Holy trails are visible on the ground, so you can dodge away from them very easily. Additionally, make sure you don’t get hit by the boss during its charge, as it does a lot of damage. |
Dark Hand | After the Darkdrift Knight loses 50% of its health, it will generate a second hand that will start swinging and splashing a dark substance towards the player. | Keep dodging backwards when the splashes appear, as if you get hit by the combo, you’ll die. |
Dark Slam | The boss will rise up in the sky and use its Dark Hand to slam the ground, while releasing the Dark substance. | Run away or roll backwards when this happens to stay away from the area of influence. |
Pounce | The boss will jump up and pounce at the player. If hit, it’ll deal massive damage to the target. | Dodging backwards or sideways is the best way to deal with this move. |
How To Defeat Darkdrift Knight In Elden Ring Nightreign

The Darkdrift Knight is extremely aggressive, and if you don’t bring the correct element, you won’t be able to stop it in its tracks.
The boss is weak to Lightning, and during its meditation phase, if you deal enough damage, it gets stunned, thereby stopping it from becoming extremely aggressive. Additionally, it also opens up a damage window for you, where you can freely hit the boss for a few seconds.
Level is very important against this boss since it hits very hard, and if you don’t farm enough during the first two days, you will die in just one hit. This is especially true for the players using ranged characters like Ironeye or Recluse.
Make sure you keep a track of the movelists as listed in the earlier section and dodge them accordingly. While the boss hits very hard, the moves are well telegraphed, which makes it easy to find a counterplay.
Lastly, if you failed to find a single Lightning weapon, the next best option you have is poison. Once you inflict the boss with poison, its health will keep draining, which will make it easy to win the fight.
Recommended Characters For Darkdrift Knight In Elden Ring Nightreign

Here is what we used when we successfully defeated the Darkdrift Knight in Elden Ring Nightreign:
- Wylder
- Ironeye
In this team, I was playing the Wylder, and my objective was to keep the boss’s gaze as much as possible. I maxed out my healing flasks from the churches and picked up several buffs to boost my HP and recovery from flasks.
The Ironeye players primarily focused on damaging the boss while I kept its gaze. They picked up Lightning weapons and focused on marking the boss to keep up the DPS.
As for the weapon I picked up, it was the Dragon Greatclaw, which I was lucky to get a drop from one of the camps. I also had a Relic that boosted Lightning Damage, which further helped in stunning the boss during its meditation phase.
Recommended Build For Darkdrift Knight
Here is the build I used and what you should be using when fighting this boss:
Build Elements | My Build | Recommendation For You |
---|---|---|
Character Level | 13 | 12 and above |
Weapon | Dragon Greatclaw | Any weapon that deals Lightning damage |
Relics and Talisman | Boost HP, Faster Stamina Recovery, Physical Damage Negation, Boost Lightning Damage | Same as previous Column |
Stamina recovery is quite crucial here since you will be dodging a lot, especially if you’re trying to tank the boss. HP boost is good for both yourself as well as for the rest of the team, so that you don’t get killed by getting one-shot.
I was running Physical damage negation since some of the boss’s attacks are physical, but if you find Holy damage negation, that also works.
