In Mistfall Hunter, one of the first sets of quests you will be sent on will be on behalf of Draam, the blacksmith found at your camp. A troubled soul in search of Bell Fragments, which, naturally, can only be found by heading out into Hollowgrove and searching.
The first few quests are pretty straightforward, but to complete the quest ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’ you’ll need to take down the Elite Berserker.
Elites are powerful boss enemies, and this one in particular serves as the first real skill check in the game. So, here’s where you can find them, how you need to prepare, and how to win the fight.
Where Is the Elite Berserker?

The Elite Berserker is found in Hollowgrove and is marked on the map in red. You’ll find them in a building called the Supreme Hall. You’ll know you’re in the right place if you see the red insignia on the door as you enter.
You’ll need to take on a few basic enemies to gain access no matter what way you approach, so try not to lose too much health on the way to the fight.
How To Prepare For The Fight

The key to this fight is picking the right class, and then loading up with the best gear possible. This is what I would personally suggest at a minimum.
Note: the loadout pictured above is slightly better than it needs to be. Green rarity armor tends to be fine.
- Class: Mercenary
- Weapon: Studded Sword & Shield
- Armor: Guard/Veteran Armor Set
- Ring: Hunter’s Ring
- Amulet: Discipline Pendant
- Essential Items: Healing Elixirs x6
- Weapon Skills: Whirling Cut + Shield Dash
The key to this build is mainly down to the choice of class, the strength of the weapon, and the amount of healing items that you take with you. I would also recommend putting on the Victory Wine buffs to help you in this fight.
Choosing a Mercenary is key, as you need to be able to take a hit in this fight, and all the other classes are needlessly complex or too squishy to handle this fight, especially solo. Thankfully, the game does give an option to change your class, so if you are playing as someone other than a Mercenary, you may want to consider this.
So, you’ll want to use your shield to block in this fight and use your skills to counterattack, while also using the pillars around the room to get out of the way.
But, above all, you’ll want to have a good few Healing Elixirs, or potent variants if you have them, as this will help you outlast this brute.
How To Beat The Elite Berserker

So, let’s break down the moveset of the Elite Berserker. First off, you have an overhead strike where he will glow red. He will likely open the fight with this, and getting hit will leave you staggered and completely open to his next combo. Best advice I can give is, when he’s red, step back and let it all play out.
Then you’ll want to use your Shield Dash to close the gap when you do and get into range for some combos of your own.
Throughout the fight, he will also use a trio slash attack and will step towards you with each slash. The best counter here is to back off until the third, then counter roll into the third strike to get behind and land some strikes.

He will also perform a series of ranged or charging attacks if you back off him too much. This will be an axe-throw attack in which he tosses two axes across the room at you. Or, they will set up for a charge and rush at you. The rush attack is much easier to avoid, as you simply need to maintain that distance to avoid it in most cases.
He will also perform a glowing red attack where he does a twirling sweep attack, then takes to the air and homes in on your position for a downward slash. Again, if he’s glowing red, keep back and dodge if he gets in range.
He may also do a ground attack that pierces the ground. If he’s glowing red, do not see this as an opportunity, as they will soon let out a pulsing AOE attack, so keep back and let this play out.

This is essentially his full moveset, but he may combine some of these to keep combos a little less predictable, so stay on your toes. However, if you learn and master these counters, you should be able to consistently beat this guy, and complete For Whom The Bell Tolls.
Also, be sure to check the corner of the room right of the teleporter, as there is a chest there that usually has some good loot on top of what the Berserker drops.
