Mistfall Hunter has a core gameplay loop that has you head out on excursions, then return to camp to drop off loot, and use this newfound load of goodies to expand your camp and make permanent progress.
That said, there are quite a few Camp Upgrades, and many of them will require the same items along their upgrade paths. So, at some point you will need to make some difficult decisions when it comes to spending your loot.
But we want to make that less of a headache for you, as some are more useful to upgrade than others. So, here is our breakdown of which camp upgrades you should prioritize.
All Camp Upgrades Explained
Before we talk about which are most important, we should first explain what all of these camp assets do. Here is a quick list of all camp upgrades and the functions they serve:
- Warehouse – Used to store all your loot
- Tavern – Area where you can brew Victory Wine
- Shop – Merchant where you can buy essentials before runs
- Auction House – Player trading hub where you can buy just about anything in the game
- Scavenger Squad – AFK scouting runs that allow you to collect items passively over time
- Gyldenblod Pool – An area where you can change your appearance. Also allows you to upgrade your Gyldjar
- Soulcatch Tree – Passive rewards asset where you attach Soulcatchers and accumulate Gyldenblod Gel
- Workshop – The Blacksmith station where you can forge weapons and armor, as well as Gem Affixes
- Goddess Statue – An area where you can refine Star Silver, and also upgrade your Springhorn
- Collection Pedestal – A place at camp to showcase your collectibles
Which Camp Upgrades To Prioritize In Mistfall Hunter
Now that you know what each camp upgrade does, here is a breakdown of which upgrades you should focus on:
1st – Goddess Statue
By far, the Goddess Statue is the most valuable upgrade to focus on, as this upgrade gives you access to higher-quality Springhorn Healing per use. Essentially, in Dark Souls terms, this is higher-powered Estus Flasks for superior healing.
It also allows you to engage with Mistfall’s Gacha-esque system. This allows you to refine Moonlight Nectar and gain Star Silver. The currency used to buy items from the Curio Shop. These don’t benefit you in any way other than aesthetically. So, if you’re not fussed on that aspect of the game, don’t worry about it too much, but upgrade it for the Springhorn Upgrade alone.
2nd – Gyldenblod Pool
In close second, we have the Gyldenblod Pool, as this grants you a bump to your Gyldjar capacity, allowing you to collect more Gyldenblod per run, which is capped at 300 per run at the start of the game. Admittedly, selling items is more lucrative, but having a higher capacity will benefit you in the long run, as those small quantities all add up to one big haul.
3nd – Tavern
Our runner-up is the Tavern, the area of camp where you get Victory Wine. Upgrading this will give you access to more combinations per concoction, which essentially means more passive buffs per run.
4th – Workshop
As you get further through the game, being able to craft weapons and armor will become more important, as will using Gem Affixes to make your gear more powerful. But, forging takes time. Upgrading this camp asset allows you to gain more forging slots in your queue, which is perfect for making items in bulk. Not to mention, upgrading will also unlock higher-quality forging opportunities and shorter forging times.
5th – Warehouse
With every new outing in Mistfall, the player will inevitably arrive back at camp with a lot of loot. The Warehouse ensures you have somewhere to put it. But unless you upgrade this feature, you’ll run out of room, which will mean a lot of admin-heavy resource management between runs, and selling items you might need later.
6th – Shop
The shop is something that sounds a little more useful than it actually is, as a lot of the items you can get from the shop you can gather out in the field by beating basic enemies. However, this changes somewhat when you upgrade this feature, as you gain access to premium shops, tactical shops, and the secret shop. All of which offer items that could come in handy for your next run if you have Glydenblod to spare.
7th – Scavenger Squad
It’s always nice to have a way to make progress and gain gear even when you’re AFK. The Scavenger Squad does just that, but they can only really gather basic gear in the beginning. With an upgrade, you can start spending more rare gear to send them out on more fruitful runs. It’s not a pressing matter to attend to, but as you gain more consistently valuable loot, you’ll want to upgrade their abilities too.
8th – Soulcatch Tree
The Soulcatch Tree is only as good as you make it, as you need to attach Soulcatchers to this tree for it to accumulate Glydenblod Gel. This is a valuable resource and can even net you some Holy Items. However, unless you really commit to finding Soulcatchers, the payout is so slow it’s not worth prioritizing.
9th – Auction House
Unless you are very keen to engage with the auction house and make bank, the base Auction House will likely be enough for most players, as you can buy anything without restriction. Upgrading grants more selling slots, which is nice to have if you want to make Gyldenblod for a rare item you have acquired, but it’s far from necessary.
10th – Collection pedestal
Just about the most pointless aspect of your camp unless you really get a kick out of displaying collectibles. This can’t be upgraded anyway, but you shouldn’t go out of your way to build it in the first place, if you ask us.
