In the treacherous and punishing world of Mistfall Hunter, there isn’t much more terrifying a prospect than fighting a Mist Lord. These are the most devastatingly powerful bosses in the entire game. Epic boss fights that will push you to your limit.
Salmar, the Cursed Moonwane, is the resident Mist Lord of Hollowgrove and a very powerful necrotic foe that will use their own moveset, alongside their undead minions, to take you down.
You might think that this is a bridge too far, but we assure you, this boss is beatable, and we can show you how.
Where Is Salmar The Cursed Moonwane in Mistfall Hunter?

Salmar is located right at the center of the Hollowgrove map and will typically become available to fight about ten minutes into any excursion to Hollowgrove.
Wait until the ‘Mist Lord Available’ message pops up on screen, and then head to this pool in the middle of the map. Then interact with the Teleporter to access the boss arena. If you are planning to tackle this boss, you might want to sign up for the Path of Glory before that and start collecting points – defeating a Mist Lord gives you 30 precious points.
How To Prepare

I’ll try to keep this as succinct and as broad as possible to accommodate all players. So let’s start with the absolute must-haves.
This fight is incredibly difficult Solo, but if you intend to take on this fight on your own, I would suggest a complete blue rarity set and that you use a Blackarrow or Sorcerer class (The game does give you an option to change your class if what you have currently is not working best for you). As this boss is far too mobile to rely on melee attacks alone, and even if they were, you’ll get ganked by their minions from close range. Then, on top of that, I would suggest you bring a metric ton of Potent Health Elixirs.
But, if we’re being a little more realistic, you should aim to fight this Mist Lord as a Trio. Comprising a Seer for Support, a ranged character for strikes from a distance, and a melee class for all-out offense to get that HP bar down.
Beyond that, I don’t believe any tweaks to items and tacticals will help you too much here. It’s what you do in the fight that counts.
How To Beat Salmar The Cursed Moonwane
Phase One

So, let’s get into the actual fight. She will come down from her floating crescent moon, and you can get a few quick shots in before she retaliates. She will usually float away and do a three-pronged undead souls attack.
This will come towards the player along the ground, and if you’re in one of the lines of attack, the hands will grab you, effectively staggering you and leaving you open to an attack.
She will move around the battlefield a lot during this fight, and you’ll immediately notice that she casts a lot of necrotic projectiles as she does. So be wary of these as they fly around and try to stay out of their line of fire.
Salmar will also do a bunch of charging attacks, briefly bracing before zooming at the player. When they hunch down and brace, that’s the ideal time to dodge. If they’re coming at you, it’s already too late.

A little ways into the fight, they will spawn in undead minions to make your life hell. These are typically a blend of Blackarrows and Shadowstrix enemies. The best thing you can do is keep one eye on Salmar, but divert almost all your focus towards taking these down before they overwhelm you.
Salmar will also use a crescent moon ranged attack that launches crescent projectiles at the player, ending with a slam AOE attack. The best counter here is to move back and try to move left or right of the stream of crescent attacks. If you’re too close, try to get behind them.
Phase Two

After you get her down to about two-thirds health, they will float into the sky, form a crysylis, and burst out more powerful than ever.
In truth, her moveset doesn’t alter too much from the first phase. Most notably, she now spawns three minions instead of two, this time adding a Mercenary to the group. But she also gains a floating AOE burst attack that can deal big damage if you’re in the wrong spot.
This will light up the entire arena floor and briefly illuminate the points of impact before a set of hands bursts from all the highlighted areas. If you’re standing in one, you have a split second to get out of the way.
Then lastly in terms of new attacks for the second phase. She will rise into the air and swoop down, grabbing you and lifting you into the air. Again, forcing a state of stagger and dealing quite a lot of damage in the process.

The tell is that she rises into the air and braces for a charge. Try to ancipipate their movement and execute a well-timed dodge.
This is the entire moveset you need to worry about, but it also bears mentioning that, at a certain point, if the battle goes on for too long, the Mist Lord will go Berserk.
What this means is that they will deal added damage and become much more dangerous. When this happens, it’s important that you all come together and try to deal a lot of damage to get the fight over and done with fast.

Provided you learn this moveset, work as a team, and get out of there alive, you’ll be able to loot her, take the spoils and will have the accolade of beating a Mist Lord. No small feat.
