The ongoing Monster Hunter Wilds Beta stands extended by one day by Capcom, on account of the PSN network outage.

PS5 hunters, thanks for your patience and understanding during this weekend’s PSN service issues. To account for reduced OBT2 play time due to the outage, we are considering running OBT2 for an additional 24 hours at a future date. Exact details and timing are TBD, so please stay…

Capcom put up the above message on their X (formerly Twitter) feed, and have then gone ahead and confirmed the 24-hour extension. The PSN network went down at around 3 pm PT/6 pm EST on Feb 7, and remained so for 20-24 hours. The fact that this happened over a weekend added to the problem – a lot of gamers looking to go back to their games, especially the live service ones could not. Playstation itself has gone ahead and given an extension on the PS Plus membership for 5 days to make up for the network outage. These will get automatically added to all PS Plus accounts, there is no separate process required on by users to get this extension.

Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience. All PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional 5 days of service.

This was the biggest outage faced by PS since the infamous 2011 one, where the network went and stayed down for 23 days along with personal data of 77.1 million accounts exposed. Thankfully, nothing of this scale or level happened here, although Sony has, till the time of writing this article, not come out with the exact details on this.

Monster Hunter: Wilds had 2 beta sessions planned, the first from 6th Feb to 9th Feb, and the other from 13th Feb to 16th Feb. Since the first one got impacted, the second beta will now start on the same date – 13th Feb, but end on 17th Feb – one day more than the original plan. The first beta got some real good participation, with the Steam nos. peaking on 7th Feb at 255k+.

The game is one of the most anticipated games of 2025, and the next release for Capcom’s powerhouse franchise. Monster Hunter: Wilds will be out for release on Feb 28 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
