The Blood of Dawnwalker Release Date, News, and What to Expect

The Blood of Dawnwalker Release Date is already locked in, but with launch getting closer, RPG fans are starting to get a clearer idea of what to expect from Rebel Wolves’ dark fantasy debut.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is set to launch on 3 September 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Rather than treating the date as brand-new news, the more interesting question now is what the game actually offers, how its vampire-led world works, and why so many RPG fans are watching it closely.

Rebel Wolves isn’t just any new studio; the team includes former CD Projekt Red developers, which naturally means comparisons to The Witcher are going to follow the game around.

That doesn’t mean The Blood of Dawnwalker is simply “The Witcher but vampires”, but if you’re one of those people who thought it is, considering who’s working on the game, it’s an easy assumption to make. But the connection is easy to understand. This is a choice-driven dark fantasy RPG with monsters, politics, consequences, a splash of horror, and a morally messy world.

Blood of Dawnwalker Release Date and Platforms

The Blood of Dawnwalker launches on 3 September 2026 on the following platforms.

    • PS5
    • Xbox Series X/S
    • PC/Steam

Pre-orders are already available, with standard and collector-style editions listed for players who want to jump in at launch.

At the moment, there’s no confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 version, and there has been no official word on a Game Pass release. Unless that changes closer to launch, players should expect The Blood of Dawnwalker to arrive first on current-gen PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

What Is The Blood of Dawnwalker About?

The Blood of Dawnwalker is set in a dark version of 14th-century Europe, where vampires are not hiding in the shadows anymore.

Players take on the role of Coen, a man caught between two worlds. By day, he is human. By night, he becomes something much more dangerous. That split is central to the game’s identity, affecting how players approach combat, exploration, and story choices.

The unique split gives the game an almost Blade-like story. A man who’s not fully human, and yet not fully beast either. Coen is stuck somewhere in between, and that should make decisions feel a lot more personal.

    The Blood of Dawnwalker Gameplay

The Blood of Dawnwalker is set to be an epic open-world dark fantasy action RPG, but its most interesting idea may be its time system.

The story revolves around a 30-day and 30-night structure, with time moving forward as players complete quests. That means you won’t be staring at a clock every second, but your choices should still matter. Helping one person, chasing one lead, or ignoring one problem could change what happens elsewhere.

Combat also changes depending on Coen’s form. During the day, players can rely more on human skills and weapons. At night, vampire powers come into play, giving Coen access to more supernatural abilities. It’s this day-and-night split that could help separate The Blood of Dawnwalker from other action RPGs, especially if the game makes both sides feel meaningfully different.

Why The Blood of Dawnwalker is Worth Watching

Even with so many great RPG game releases on the horizon, The Blood of Dawnwalker has a lot going for it, which helps it stand out from the crowd.

It has a strong dark fantasy setting, a clear vampire hook, a proper choice-and-consequence structure, and a studio with serious RPG experience behind it. The 30-day system also sounds like it could give the game more tension than the usual open-world checklist.

Of course, there is still a lot we need to see before launch. Big RPGs live or die on quest design, combat feel, world-building, and whether choices actually matter beyond dialogue flavour. But based on what has been shown so far, this is one of the more promising RPGs still to come in 2026.
