If you’re all about that pirate life in Windrose, like me, you probably expected to be hoarding vast amounts of treasure in no time at all. After all, what’s the point in being one of the fiercest pirates on the seven seas if you’re not literally swimming in money? Well, the bad news is, making money fast in Windrose isn’t always that easy, but if you know where to look, there are ways to make a few coins quickly.
Of course, some methods are quicker than others, and choosing the right money-making method really depends on how far through Windrose you are.
Doing Quests
If you’re still in the early stages of the game, focusing on every single quest you can complete can be one of the most reliable ways to make money. While it’s not guaranteed, it will also help level you up, which, of course, you’re going to need to do if you want to take on the first boss fight.
Some of the quests might even involve digging up chests at camps, which can leave you with rewards that can be sold to factions like the Smugglers, adding another little bonus to sweeten the deal.

Some quests, on the other hand, will reward you with coins upon completion, which, of course, is much quicker. As you do quests, you’ll also stumble across some random points of interest as well. Most of the points of interest in Windrose will not only offer you XP for clearing, but will also give you valuable loot. Locations such as temples often have relics in them, which can then be sold for a decent amount.
Sinking or Boarding Ships
If you’ve got yourself a ship and managed to equip it with a sturdy hull and some cannons, you might want to consider taking down some of Blackbeard’s ships in the area to make money.
There are two ways you can do this; the first, which is the easiest way, is to simply sink the ship. Once the ship starts going down, you can collect the loot, and if you’re lucky, you might get some coins.

Boarding the ship, instead of sinking it, is a much better way of making money in Windrose, as it guarantees that you’ll get some coins in return for your efforts. Obviously, this way isn’t as easy, so make sure you’ve got some food and health potions at the ready, and if you have the right materials to do so, upgrade your boarding party gear, as this will make your chances of survival so much easier. In fact, since doing so, I have won almost every fight.
If you’re not so confident when it comes to melee fighting, just send in your crew and shoot the enemy pirates from the safety of your own ship. For some odd reason, I’ve found that they don’t like boarding my ship to try and stop me.
Convert Currencies
It turns out even pirates used currency exchange services, who knew! If you’ve managed to get your hands on some Guineas, a high-value currency, they can be exchanged for Piastres, and vice versa.
If you need some Piastres urgently, and you decide to exchange your Guineas, just bear in mind that you will need Guineas at some point in the game, especially once you’ve built up your reputation with some of the factions around the map.
