If you’re a fan of the Diablo series, the chances are you already know that Diablo 4 is an impressive entry to the series, with a mountain of content to enjoy. Thanks to the upcoming release of Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, that mountain is about to get a whole lot bigger.
I won’t go into too much detail, as some people might be picking up Diablo 4 for the first time, and I hate spoilers as much as every other gamer. But I will say, one of the biggest frustrations when it came to Vessel of Hatred was its ending. The Diablo 4 expansion left players wanting more with a massive cliffhanger. As frustrating as that has been, the wait is finally over, and players are about to be able to pick up from where they left off.
Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred Release Date
Can’t wait to get stuck in? The good news is, you don’t have to for much longer, as Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred is due to release on April 28, 2026, across all major platforms that currently support the base game, such as PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Battle.net, and Steam.
You will need to make sure you have a copy of the base game; however, the new expansion does come with Vessel of Hatred included, so if you’re catching up from release, you only need to splash out on the one expansion.

Although we don’t know the exact time that Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred will launch, it does seem likely that the release times across the globe should follow the same pattern as Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred did.

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred’s Story
I won’t go into too much detail, because if you’re anything like me, you love the cinematics and stories when it comes to Blizzard games. What I can tell you is that the next expansion focuses on Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, as should be obvious from the name.
In its roughly eight-hour campaign, the game has a much larger emphasis on storytelling than the previous Diablo expansion, with players finding support in the most unlikely of places as they fight to stop Mephisto, who has taken over the body of a respected holy leader in order to corrupt the citizens of Sanctuary.
