If you want to start building better houses and buildings in Medieval Dynasty, you need to start getting better resources, such as planks. While that might seem like a straightforward task, not everything in Medieval Dynasty is straightforward and can take a while to figure out.
Although building your roofs out of straw will do for a while, it won’t take long before you’ll start to need better resources and better buildings, and this is where planks come in handy.
Unlock The Woodshed
Before you can proceed with making planks in Medieval Dynasty, you first need to make sure that you have unlocked the woodshed.
You can find it by going to your building menu and the resource menu. From there, you will see an option to build Woodshed 1.
To build the woodshed, you will need:
- Foundation: 8 stone
- Framing: 6 logs
- Sidewall: 1 log
- Roof: 1 log and 8 straw
With the woodshed built, you’re going to want to chop down as many trees as you can and start collecting logs. To save time, you can store them in the chest in the woodshed until you’re ready to convert them into planks.

Or, if you’re playing a co-op game, you could consider having one of you chop down trees to collect logs, while the other turns them into planks, saving you both time and speeding up your plank production.
How to Turn Logs into Planks
Now you have a woodshed, and hopefully by now a surplus of logs, making planks and building better structures should be much easier.

Simply interact with the carpenter’s table within the woodshed, and select the option to create planks.
Depending on which platform you’re playing Medieval Dynasty on, there will be a button to craft multiple planks, which will save you from needing to keep selecting the option if you’re planning on making a lot.
Instead of walking back and forth from where you plan to use the planks, make sure to use the storage box next to you. This will stop you from becoming overburdened, save you time unloading the planks, and let you keep crafting planks until you have enough for whatever project you’re working on.
Although you can bypass the need for planks for some time in the game, if you want to start building more advanced buildings, stone houses, and even some decorations to go around your town.
