Dragon Is Dead is an action roguelike RPG, which will make the game difficult for players who don’t have experience in the genre. You pretty much have to finish the game with just one life in hand, and if you die, you’ll restart from the beginning.

However, there are ways you can make your death count so that the next time you go back into a run, you’re a lot better prepared. Here are the five tips that will help you get going before jumping into the first run of Dragon Is Dead.

Pick Up Every Weapon And Gear Piece

Weapon and gear are the only two pieces of loot that you retain when you die in Dragon Is Dead. However, in your initial run, you might have been using a weapon that synergized with the skills and Artifacts that you picked up.

This may not be the case as you won’t get the same Artifacts in consecutive runs. In such cases, a different weapon that you picked up might become more valuable.

    Level Up Your Healing Flasks

Your healing flasks are key to your survivability in Dragon Is Dead. After defeating the Tree Spirit Longmore boss, you’ll get to save an Alchemist.

Doing this will unlock the Alchemist in the town, where you’ll be able to upgrade your healing flasks with the red currency in hand. Just remember that the more you level up your flasks, the more currency you will need.

However, leveling up increases the amount you heal per flask as well as the total number of uses.

    Save Gold To Reroll Artifacts

Apart from picking up Artifacts from the area completion chests, you’ll also get to pick them up from Brukan, the Artifact Keeper. The good part about this is that you’ll get to reroll the Artifacts until you get something that fits your needs.

However, rerolling will cost Gold, so you should save most of it for Artifact management, as this will help strengthen your build significantly.

    Buy Gear From Merchants

Every time you die or clear an area, you’ll meet a merchant who will sell gear such as weapons and equipment. Make sure you keep checking the merchants and buy any upgrades, as that will increase your chances of clearing the subsequent levels.

Always remember that no matter how well you dodge, eventually you’ll come across enemies who will pose a challenge. Equipping better gear is the best way to ensure that you can stand against the challenge.

    Learn To Disengage During Combat

While Dragon Is Dead is mostly a hack n slash game, combat can become tricky, especially when you get surrounded by enemies, which will happen quite happen. These enemies will throw projectiles at you from a distance, which becomes difficult to deal with.

In such situations, it is important you learn to disengage from combat and put yourself in advantageous positions instead of trying to brute force. Always remember, your healing flasks are limited, and HP is a resource you’ll have to manage judiciously.

Make it a point to explore areas thoroughly, you may come across a Ruby Chest that could possibly hold just the weapon you needed to survive and complete the run in Dragon is Dead.
