It’s been a great year for Smalland fans. First, we had the release of Smalland: Survive the Wilds on the Nintendo Switch 2, and now, the recent announcement for the Smalland 2 release date window, players finally know it’s not going to be a long wait before they can jump back into Land of the Small and see what the next entry in the series has to offer.
While the first Smalland focused on surviving in a huge world from a tiny perspective, Smalland 2: Lost Realms looks set to build on that foundation with a bigger world, deeper progression, expanded crafting, and new ways to explore a massive world from a tiny perspective.
What’s New in Smalland 2: Lost Realms
Smalland 2: Lost Realms is expanding the game with a larger world, and several confirmed new game mechanics and upgrades. Maximum Entertainment has confirmed deeper progression, a new crafting system, improved creature companionships, water mechanics, and climbing mechanics.
As well as confirmed in-game upgrades in the Smallands sequel, the announcement also came with the confirmation that the game has been built in Unreal Engine 5, which should help bring more detail to its environments, creatures, and world design.
Creature taming also appears to be a major part of the sequel. Players will be able to bond with different creatures, with companions offering unique abilities and support while exploring the wilds. The story takes place in a mythical era before the arrival of the Giants, giving players a chance to explore a forgotten age filled with ancient civilisations, elemental creatures, and untamed lands.
Players will once again take on the role of the Smallfolk, setting out across a dangerous world in search of long-buried secrets. This time, the adventure also centres around a dark prophecy that threatens the future of the Smallfolk.

The world itself will feature a wider range of regions, cultures, resources, and environmental challenges. Alongside the usual survival and crafting loop, players will also be able to establish outposts, build trade routes, and much more.
Smallands 2 Release Date
Smalland 2: Lost Realms does not have an exact release date yet, but Maximum Entertainment has confirmed a 2026 launch window for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The confirmed Smalland 2: Lost Realms platforms are:
Steam: 2026
Epic Games Store: 2026
PlayStation 5: 2026
Xbox Series X|S: 2026
Nintendo Switch 2: 2027
That means players on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC should get access first, while Nintendo Switch 2 players will need to wait a little longer before stepping into the new world of the Smallfolk.
Of course, as with the game planned for later this year, it shouldn’t be an overly long wait before we start seeing more content, extended Smalland 2 trailers, and an exact release date.
Will Smalland 2 Support Multiplayer?
Smalland 2: Lost Realms will keep one of the original game’s biggest features by supporting up to 10-player co-op. Although if you prefer to go it alone, just like the original Smalland, the game does also support solo play.
But with the game confirmed to feature a larger map, more companions, and of course more danger, Smalland 2 is set to be a game that is better enjoyed in a large group; there’s always safety in numbers.
